Turf Guru

Privacy Policy

Last updated November 4, 2026

The short version

  • Turf Guru is an app lawn care companies use to run their business. We collect what's needed to run it, and nothing else.
  • We don't sell your information, we don't show ads, and we don't use tracking or analytics tools.
  • Each company's records are kept separate and only that company's team can see them.
  • You can delete your account in the app at any time (how).

Who we are

Turf Guru (the app at my.turfguru.app, the iPhone and Android apps, and this website) is made by Jake Rottina, Pennsylvania, USA ("we", "us"). Questions about this policy or your information: [email protected].

Turf Guru is used by lawn care companies ("companies") and their team members. Those companies also keep information about their own customers in the app. For that customer information, the company decides what to collect and why, and we handle it on the company's behalf as their service provider.

What we collect

Your account

  • Your name, username, email address, phone number (if you add one) and password. Passwords are stored scrambled (hashed) and nobody can read them.
  • If you sign in with Google: your name, email address and profile picture from your Google account. We don't get your Google password and we don't read your Gmail, Drive, contacts or anything else.
  • Your role on your company's team, your preferences and alert settings, and, for team members, details the owner adds such as pay rate.
  • Sign-in times and failed sign-in attempts, to keep accounts secure.

What your company puts in the app

  • Customer and property details: names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, lawn sizes, notes and service history.
  • Visits, routes, rounds, products applied and pesticide application records (including weather and wind at the time).
  • Quotes, invoices, payments recorded, balances and plans. When a customer approves a quote online, their typed name, signature, the time and their IP address are saved as a record of the approval.
  • Messages, newsletters, announcements, product labels and files the company uploads.
  • Time clock entries (clock-in and clock-out times) for team members.

Location

Only if you allow it, and only while the app is open. Turf Guru does not track your location in the background.

  • When you clock in or out and when you start a stop, the place and time are saved with that record, so your company knows where and when the work was done.
  • While you're on the clock with today's route open, the app checks your location to offer to start the stop you're at, and to show your spot on the route map.
  • For local weather, your location is rounded to about 1 km before it's used, and it isn't saved with your name or company.
  • When you place a map pin with "use where I'm standing", that spot is saved as the property's location.

You can say no or turn location off at any time in your phone's settings. The app still works; you'll just tap start and finish yourself.

Camera and photos

Only when you choose to use them: to take or attach photos of a lawn at a stop, a service call, your company logo or a newsletter picture, and to scan a paper customer list or a payment QR code. Photos you attach are stored with your company's records. The app never reads your photo library on its own.

Notifications

If you allow notifications on your phone, we keep a notification token for your device so we can send the alerts your company has set up (for example, a new service request). Notifications are delivered by Apple Push Notification service or Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. You can turn them off in your phone's settings.

Payments

Card and bank payments are handled by Stripe. Card and bank numbers are typed only into Stripe's own secure forms, never into Turf Guru, and we never see or store them. We keep a record of each payment (amount, date, the last four digits and card brand) so companies can see who has paid.

Technical information

Like any website, our servers and hosting providers receive your IP address, device and browser type when you use the app. We use this only to run the app, keep it secure and fix problems. Turf Guru has no analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and this website sets no cookies.

How we use it

Only to provide Turf Guru: signing you in, showing your company's records to your team, building routes, sending the texts, emails and alerts your company asks for, taking payments, keeping the app secure, and answering your support requests. We don't sell your information, share it for advertising, or use it to track you across other companies' apps and websites.

Who helps us run Turf Guru

We use these service providers. They handle data only to provide their service to us, under their own privacy and security terms.

ProviderWhat for
SupabaseDatabase, sign-in and file storage (photos, labels, logos).
CloudflareHosting the app, this website and customer pages (quotes, invoices, account pages).
StripeCard and bank payments from a company's customers, and a company's own Turf Guru plan.
Zoho BooksOnly if a company connects its own Zoho Books account: customers, invoices and payments are copied there for its accounting.
GoogleGoogle sign-in (if you use it); Google Maps and Places for maps, address lookup, lawn measuring and route maps; web fonts used by the app.
Anthropic and OpenAIAI features: the built-in helper, reading a paper or spreadsheet customer list you upload, writing and illustrating newsletters, and "Design with Claude". Only what's needed for that request is sent. Under their API terms, these providers don't use it to train their models.
Twilio and ResendSending the texts (Twilio) and emails (Resend) a company sends its customers and team, when the company turns them on.
Apple and GoogleDelivering push notifications to the phone apps.
US National Weather Service, US Census Bureau, US EPAPublic weather forecasts (rounded location only), turning an address into map coordinates, and looking up pesticide product registrations. No account details are sent.
jsDelivr and cdnjsDelivering a few standard code libraries the app loads (your browser fetches them directly).

We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect people's safety, or as part of a sale or merger of the business (in which case this policy keeps applying to it).

Google user data

Information we get from Google sign-in is used only to sign you in and show your name and picture in the app. It isn't shared with anyone else or used for any other purpose. Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. You can disconnect Google under My account, or from your Google account's security settings.

How long we keep it, and deleting it

  • While your company uses Turf Guru, we keep its records so the team can use them.
  • Delete your account in the app: My account → Delete my account. Your login, username, email, phone number and preferences are deleted right away. Work you did for a company (visits, time clock entries, application records) stays with that company under your name, because it belongs to their business records. How deleting your account works.
  • Deleting a whole company: it closes right away, and all its data (customers, visits, invoices, payments, photos, files and settings) is erased for good after 30 days.
  • Backups: erased data can stay in our hosting provider's encrypted backups for a short time until those backups expire.
  • Pesticide application records may have to be kept by the company for several years under state law. Companies can download or print them before deleting.

Your choices and rights

You can see and change your account details in the app under My account. To get a copy of your information, correct it, delete it, or ask what we hold about you, email [email protected]. We'll confirm it's you and answer within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have more rights under your state's law, and we'll honor them.

If you're a customer of a lawn care company that uses Turf Guru, please contact that company first: they control your information. If you contact us, we'll pass your request to them and help them answer it.

Security

All data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Each company's records are walled off from every other company's at the database level, and team members see only what the owner allows. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your information and will tell affected companies promptly if something goes wrong.

Children

Turf Guru is a business app and isn't meant for children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page, and for important changes we'll let company owners know in the app or by email.
